The definition of Sympatico is compatible, of like mind or temperament, having a mutual understanding with one another, to be in sync with.  This is so true of this combination of voices!  With over 100 years of barbershop experience, this vibrant foursome is sure to inspire audiences with harmony and fun.


Dian Sandefur, Tenor

Dian has been singing barbershop since 1999. She has sung in several quartets and has had a couple top 5 finishes. She lived in England for three years where she was a founding member and director for a small chorus. Their first time competing found them winning first place small chorus with a score high enough to qualify for Harmony Classic at International in 2011. She currently serves on the music team as section leader and has also been an assistant director. In her personal life, she and her husband, Shawn, have three teenagers that keep them busy and a dog that drives them crazy!


 Karla Callaway, Lead

 Karla has been singing all of her life and found barbershop  34 years ago at the tender age of 14.   She has sung in many quartets over the years as well as having the opportunity to compete internationally as the Region 24 regional championship quartet.  She has also been a voice teach, director, section leader and enjoys coaching others.   In her personal life, she is the mother of 4 grown daughters and works as a salesperson in Humble Tx.


Marlys Nelson, Baritone

Marlys has been singing barbershop for 27 years.  Her very first chorus performance was on the International stage in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1990.  She has been extremely successful singing both baritone and bass.  She has had several opportunities to compete internationally as the Region 24 quartet champion.  She has also sung in several choruses and quartet and has been a section leader.   In her personal life, she has 4 children and 5 grandchildren and is a nanny.


Kathy Parker, Bass

 Kathy has a musical background with dance, guitar, clarinet, piano and has sung in various church choirs and a cappella groups from grade school through college.  She has also been in several quartets as well as having several top five finishes in Region 10.  Kathy has sung in several choruses, started a chorus, has competed on Chorus International stage since 2000, and has served in many chorus and Regional positions.  In her personal life, she has two children, a granddaughter, and has been a Senior Recruiter for many years.
