Later this month, the members of TWSC will participate in the Region 10 Convention and Competition at the Hilton North at Greenspoint. We will join the members of approximately 20 other choruses from Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama. These choruses will comprise around 500-600 members of Sweet Adelines International who will gather for our annual convention and competitions. We will participate in celebrations, singing, recognition of accomplishments, shopping, more singing, plus quartet and chorus competitions (on Friday and Saturday, respectively).
On Friday, March 18, TWSC will be represented by the members of 6 quartets! Chorus members not competing in a quartet will gather in the audience to support the quartet competitors. The extra time and effort given by quartet members makes the chorus stronger. We appreciate their individual and collective efforts to further develop their vocal skills and performing abilities.
As the 2015 chorus champions, we will perform for evaluation-only as the first performing group on Saturday, March 19. After the last chorus contestant, TWSC will again take the stage to perform our bow-out package as out-going champions. We will sing several songs that are being refined as part of our performances planned for International Competition in Las Vegas in October. As part of our bow-out performance, we will debut our newest song: Aretha Franklin’s RESPECT. As we performance this song, the director of each performing chorus will be honored by joining us onstage to receive the applause of their chorus and of the assembled crowd. Chorus directors are a rare breed who deserve all the respect, admiration, and gratitude that we can muster.
