The members of The Woodlands Show Chorus (TWSC) are eagerly awaiting the evening of September 14! That’s when coach extraordinaire Dale Syverson will visit us to hone our vocal skills. Dale has an uncanny knack for explaining and demonstrating what to do and how to do it. She currently directs the multiple-time international champion chorus, The Richtones, from Dallas. She also has won the international quartet championship twice so far. These accolades indicate convincingly that she practices what she preaches!
TWSC members are willing learners at rehearsal every week. Dale’s visits are absolutely no exception! Her finely-tuned analytical listening skills allow her to pinpoint specific phrases and/or chords that require additional attention. She can identify when the baritones need to raise their pitch slightly as their voice part descends in pitch. She can identify when the tenors need more resonance and greater vocal clarity as their voice part takes them outside their vocal “comfort zone”. She can identify momentary lapses of vocal stamina in the bass section. She can also offer alternate interpretive treatments of the lyrics that enhance the musicality. And on and on…
TWSC members LOVE this sort of challenge! Our goal is to become an A level chorus. To accomplish that goal, we seek feedback and guidance from the top coaches in our organization. Dale is one of the most sought-after coaches and clinicians in Sweet Adelines International.
