From May 1 -7, 2017, the Insperity Invitational Golf Tournament took place at the The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course. Members of The Woodlands Show Chorus worked at the 19th Hole concession stand as a fund-raising project. The watering hole (named for Fuzzy Zoeller) offered food as well as beverages. Chorus members (plus family members and friends) signed up to take various shifts so that we could provide workers for the whole week. A small group for each shift learned the ropes quickly, serving various soft drinks, wine, and beer; plus burgers, chicken filet sandwiches, quesadillas, and hot dogs.
In addition to earning income for the chorus, we got to know each other better, and (in slow periods) we had the opportunity to solve the problems of the world! It's amazing what earth-shattering thoughts can be stirred up by idle chatter between waves of ravenous golf-crazed fans. But seriously, we enjoyed our “work” and the fairly temperate weather was pleasant too. Next year, same time, same place, we will probably be on the job again…
