On June 14, Kathleen Hamilton, State District Judge of the 359th Judicial District, invited us to sing for the Veteran’s Treatment Court’s 2nd Anniversary in the Montgomery County Courthouse. We sang in a small room full of people, many of whom were veterans. It was a pleasure and a privilege to help these men and women celebrate the second anniversary of this great program. The emotion was palpable as the audience joined in to sing God Bless the USA! There wasn’t a dry eye in the house!
When you have an opportunity to share your gift of music with people that have given you the gift of freedom the joy is unsurpassed!
Region 10 had an awesome educational weekend with Kim Wonders and all our talented Regional Faculty including our very own Karla Callaway, Kerrie Mauney, Susie Chirafis and of course the renowned Betty Clipman. Educational opportunities are just one of the wonderful things about our chorus and Sweet Adelines!
July 2 we performed at the Bernhardt Winery as they held there annual July 4th celebration. This has become one of our favorite annual events. I can’t think of a better way to enjoy the evening than performing our music and then having the opportunity to sample some wines and listen to more great music!
July 3 we capped off the festivities with our performance at the Star Spangled Salute at the Cynthia Woods Pavilion. What a rush to have the crowd stand up and join us in our rendition of God Bless the USA and The Star Spangled Banner! It really is these moments that put joy into our hearts!
